The Therapeutic Process

Dr. Hill’s style has developed through many years of practice and training.  Some of the areas of psychology that he draws upon are interpersonal, cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, family systems, attachment, object relations, and analytic models.

During the first meeting with Dr. Hill, you’ll explore together what brought you to seek help. The two of you will look at what is occurring in your life that is causing difficulties, and see where you may perhaps be hindering yourself unintentionally.  It is during this time that you and Dr. Hill will create a working relationship, one which will help you make changes in your life situation. 

Occasionally, Dr. Hill may suggest a medical consultation with your physician or other professionals if your difficulties would benefit from such care. The length of therapy depends on what you want to accomplish. Dr. Hill is trained in both brief and long term therapy. For the most part, therapy is a guided process where you learn about yourself and develop the capacity to handle emotional difficulties in a healthier manner.
